In a landmark achievement for Jewish scholarship, the first-ever complete English translation of the Tiqqunei ha-Zohar, a cornerstone text of Jewish mystical literature, will be published in December by Margalya Press.
Tiqqunei ha-Zohar, sometimes called Tikkunei Zohar, is one the most important books of Kabbalah ever produced. It has profoundly influenced Jewish ideas and practices for the past 700 years. Unlike its sister text, the Zohar, which has multiple English editions, Tiqqunei ha-Zohar has never been fully translated into English or any Western language.
A Decade in the Making
Translator and Managing Editor David Solomon has dedicated more than a decade to this landmark achievement. His translation combines scholarly precision with poetic sensitivity, making the text accessible to modern readers of Kabbalah, whether in popular, academic, or religious settings.
Publication Details
The forthcoming Tiqqunei ha-Zohar Margalya publication will appear as a premium bilingual, seven-volume print edition that includes:
- An innovative and easily readable line-by-line translation, unlocking a text that has traditionally appeared in blocks
- A clear and elegant English that also captures the cadence and essence of the Aramaic
- All Biblical, Talmudic and Midrashic sources, referenced on the translation pages
- Gematrias (numeric values) and transliterations of keywords, where useful for understanding sense
- A translator’s annotation with insights into the ideas, themes, and symbols of the text as well as summaries of each of the tiqqunim (chapters).
Digital Age Meets Ancient Wisdom
In a nod to open access, the translation will also appear for free online through Sefaria, a non-profit digital library. Two volumes are already available, with the rest to follow in line with the release of the print edition, which will include exclusive premium features.
Cultural Significance
This publication marks a pivotal moment in contemporary Jewish publishing. It is also notable as the most important Jewish literary project to emerge from Australia.
